Chat GPT 4

Mar 28, 2023

What is it?

Chat GPT (Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer) is an artificial intelligence chatbot developed by Open AI.

What's the difference between ChatGPT & GPT 3/4?

GPT-3 & GPT-4 are language models.

GPT-4 is a newly updated version, the latest version allows for larger text inputs & ability to understand images. It's less likely to respond to requests for disallowed content & 40% more likely to produce factual responses.

ChatGPT is a AI chatbot web-app that uses GPT's language model to interact with humans in a conversational way. Its a natural language processing (NLP) model thats been trained on a large dataset of human conversation.

Look at this way ChatGPT is a chatbot, GPT is the language model it was originally trained on.

Integrations

They both have their own API, which lets other apps connect to them, and automate daily tasks.

How to use this in the design process

AI tools such as Chat GPT will not only enhance your process but also enhance the user experience of text interfaces everywhere, beginning with chatbots and application micro-copy. In the near future, users will come to anticipate this natural language processing, making it an essential feature for any software.

Having Chat GPT at your disposal is akin to having a personal AI assistant, which is undoubtedly desirable! As this tool is here to stay, it is important to learn how to utilise it effectively.

Work quicker. Work smarter!

6 Tasks that can be automated

  1. Writing Copy - If you didn't already know, Chat GPT is great at writing! You can use the tool to proofread as well as create your emails. Prompt examples;

    • Write a first contact email for a user interview.

    • Write 4 landing page text examples for the packaging industry.

    • Write 8 survey questions about how the user found the experience using 'X' app.

  2. Researching - Undoubtably the best research tool on the planet! Based on the following prompts Chat GPT will tell you the users expectations. Researching just got much easier! Prompt examples;

    • Whats a good user experience for a restaurant.

    • What are banks doing to tackle net zero emissions.

  3. Wireframing - Although Chat GPT is a language model, that does not have the capability to create visual content (yet!) you can ask for suggestions of key features & functionalities that should be included. Prompt examples;

    • What are the key features & functionalities to include in wireframes for the banking industry from an investors point of view.

    • What features should I include in my wireframes for a banking client showing their KPI's for net zero emissions.

  4. Synthesise - Paste your survey results / any replies from users and ask Chat GPT to synthesise this. Prompt examples;

    • Generate an evaluative summary based on the top words from these [input survey results] survey results.

    • Generate a page title based on top key words from this data [input data results].

    • Summarise the problems in these interviews [input data results].

  5. Advising - Uncover potential blindspots & biases, check any ethical issues that could arise with a specific project. Prompt examples;

    • What are common blindspots for UX designers

    • What mental health issues could arise from Instagram

  6. Analysing - Chat GPT can also look for keywords & analysis in long text blocks of 'opinion mining' or 'sentiment analysis.' Prompt examples;

    • What are the keywords in this interview [input data results]

    • Perform sentiment analysis on these interviews notes [input data results]

There are many many more tasks Chat GPT can assist with - try and test! Use it as your new google search engine and see what results you can get.

I recently planned my daily itinerary for my vacation to Brazil: 'Plan my itinerary to North Brazil for 8 days.' The results… a day by day plan of places to go and attractions to see… incredible!

Limitations

As an AI language model, limitations include a knowledge cutoff in September 2021, potential misunderstanding of context, lack of personal experiences, absence of common sense, difficulty maintaining long conversations, sensitivity to input phrasing, biases, potential misinformation, limited creativity, and the possibility of generating inappropriate content. Remember to verify critical information from reliable sources and consider these limitations when using my services.

What's next! GPT 4.5

GPT-4.5 model will be introduced in September or October 2023 as an intermediate version between GPT-4 and the upcoming GPT-5, providing even more improvements to its conversational abilities and context understanding.

Improvements will include:

  • Handling Longer Text Inputs- This improvement will make the model even more versatile in handling complex tasks

  • Enhanced Topic Coherence- ensuring that the generated text remains focused on the relevant subject matter throughout the conversation or content generation process.

  • Improved Fine-Tuning Capabilities- This will allow developers to adapt the model more efficiently for specific tasks or domains, making it easier to customise the model for various applications, such as customer support, content creation, and virtual assistance.

The advancements in GPT-4.5 will likely serve as a solid foundation for the innovations we can expect from ChatGPT-5. By addressing the limitations of GPT-4 and introducing new improvements GPT-4.5 will play a crucial role in shaping the development of Chat-GPT5.
